Maxuino//ABleton + Humidity Sensor and Soild Moisture Sensors

The next step was to get the humidity and soil moisture sensors working with MAX MSP.

After uploading the Firmata I downloaded the maxuino max patch from the Maxuino website. I also needed to download a CNMAT-externals for the arduino to run through max.

Then, following the stages in the maxuino.maxhelp patch I was able to get the sensors to work.  I could see that the changes in the data would be quite slow but as they will be inside a terrarium I think it would be interesting to see how much it changes throughout the running of the installation.

My next challenge was to get Maxuino and Ableton talking to each other. This was a lot easier than expected as I’d been working with Max4Live over the past few days. All I needed to do was cop and paste the maxuino.maxpat into Max4Live and select the input I was looking for. I this 15. (I learnt that 1-13 are digital then then inputs keep going round and round again – meaning that Analog 0 would be 14 and Analog 1 would be 15… and so on)

Now I have an input in Max4Live I can now use it to trigger things – which is my next step.
