Last set up + Adding lights

It has come to the point where (scarily) this will be the last setup/test day until the install of the installation. Rosey came with me the Cheltenham so that she can hear what it all sounds like then we have a week or so until we can properly refine and mix things at SHIFT.

We realised that we needed longer words and sentences to break up the pace of the words that were triggering/playing really quickly. I really like Rosey’s way of interpreting all of this. I think because we get on so well and also we are both a bit weird and have a lot of crazy ideas then it is easier for us to think more out the box and experiment with sounds and words in a different way. I think Rosey has been enjoying thinking and working on this project with me. She is going write and record some more sentences for the final install. I also like how she is working with the audio too. She has come up with her own way augmenting and altering the sounds. In Ableton I can then also warp them and space them spatially in the space. But a lot of this will come down to the final install next week where we will properly be able to see whether it will all work…

The last thing to work on would be to use lights. I suppose this has come about all of sudden even though I had been thinking about it all semester. Even though it was only a couple of hours going through DMX stuff and using the stage LED lights in Abelton, I think it will really work with the installation. Although I haven’t had much experience with this I think it will be ok because everything looks reletively simple when put into MAX MSP. I think the only thing that will catch me out will be what to do with the lights. I don’t really know all their capabilities and haven’t had any time to experiment but I’m going to take them anyway and see what I can do. Hope for the best.

The final set up. Although will be displayed very differently this is it. I pick up all the equipment on Monday the 13th and start installing on Tuesday 14th with the opening on the 15th. Oh my…
